Claude Debussy in 2018: A Centenary Celebration

The RNCM and the University of Glasgow are inviting music lovers to two events in Manchester and in Glasgow designed to mark the centenary of the death of Claude Debussy on March 25th 1918.

The event in Glasgow, ‘Debussy’s Late work and the Musical Worlds of Wartime Paris’ (22nd-23rd March), will be focused mainly on the music Debussy (and others) created during the First World War, while also considering his immediate postwar reception as well as more recent audiovisual responses to his work.

To celebrate the occasion, the Alliance Francaise Glasgow is delighted to support the Chamber Concert ‘In Memoriam Claude Debussy, which will take place at the Glasgow University’ Memorial Chapel on Thursday 22nd March, 7-9pm. Conducted by Jon Hargreaves with the RSNO, it promises to be a wonderful event.
