Each year, the Fondation Alliance Française runs an international photography competition within its worldwide network of Alliances Françaises.
To underline and celebrate the numerous International and European sporting events which took place in 2016, the theme of the competition was: "Objectif sport !".
In westernised and more traditional societies, sport is regarded as a key element of the structure and organisation of the lives of people worldwide. It carries essential values such as tolerance and open mindedness.
Participants who entered the competition found their own way to depict what sport means in their country.
103 Alliances Françaises from 50 different countries have contributed to this year’s competition!
The judging panel, whose president was acclaimed French photographer Françoise Huguier, selected the best 43 pictures which will now travel around the world, from one Alliance Française to another.
The Alliance Française Glasgow is delighted to present this special exhibition.
Venue: Alliance Française Glasgow
Dates: Between Tuesday 2nd May and Friday 23rd June
Free event - donations are welcome
We will be running special educational workshops in French in conjunction with the theme of sport for primary school pupils and their teachers who visit the exhibition. Through a series of games and activities in French, pupils will learn about sport, sporting events and the values attached to them.
It will also be the occasion to develop French vocabulary around countries, nationalities, structure of sentences such as “faire du/de la…” and more!
- Duration of the workshop: 1hr
- Additional activities at the Library can also be arranged (30min approx.)
- Suitable for pupils in P3-P6
- These workshops are free of charge
