Screening: ’As I open my eyes’ on Monday 23rd April

We’re delighted to invite you to special and free screening on Monday 23rd April in partnership with the Africa in Motion Film Festival.

The programme showcases two debut films (including a short and a feature) directed by two Tunisian female filmmakers:

L’Ambouba (2009), directed by Nadia Rais, is a visually stunning short animation film that challenges temporal and spacial landmarks.

As I Open My Eyes (2015), directed by the talented Leyla Bouzid, is set in Tunis before the 2010 Jasmine Revolution.

Inspired by true events, this innovative award-winning feature follows the journey of Farah, a headstrong young woman in her thirst for emancipation and freedom. Shot in 2014, the film skilfully gives a sensitive and corrosive insight into the implications of conservatism on the individuals on the eve of the Arab spring.
