From September 8th to October 11th the Alliance Française presents an exhibition of drawings by Quentin Blake: "Vive nos vieux jours!"
Quentin Blake is one of Britain’s best-loved and most successful illustrator and children’s authors. He has illustrated over 300 books with writers such as Michael Rosen, Russell Hoban, Joan Aiken and, most famously of all, Roald Dahl. Quentin Blake writes and illustrates his own books as well, creating such characters as Mister Magnolia, Mrs Armitage and Clown. He has also illustrated classic books for adults.
The current exhibition at the Alliance Française features drawings on "Vive la vieillesse!". Quentin’s French publishers, Gallimard Jeunesse, had to invent a new imprint ‘Gallimard Vieillesse’ especially for this life-enhancing book. It features Quentin’s drawings made originally for the patients of Kershaw Ward (South Kensington and Chelsea Mental Health Centre) plus some brand new ones and will delight people of every age.
