The Café Philo will take place on tomorrow night. Olivier Salazar-Ferrer will discuss: Pour ou contre la télévision ? (For or against television?)
Since it first reached household, television has been the subject of many controversies. It has been hailed an extraordinary tool of democratization, education or personal development for some, a manipulative, socially destructive, a weapon for globalisation. More than fifty years after its invention, we know more about its influence on people and its effects on societies. We have learnt about the impact of violent pictures, advertising, political programmes, propaganda... The Café Philo takes place at Alliance Française from 4.30pm to 6pm. Friday 15 February 2008 16:30-18:00 Alliance Française de Glasgow
