A new version of Moliere’s School for Wives
By Liz Lochhead
Directed and designed by Graham McLaren
The perfect wife for an old man. For a rich old man. Pretty, naïve and very, very young. You’ve brought her up to be just that way. What could possibly go wrong? Sometimes in a dark and daft world where no one can be trusted, a man needs to go to any lengths to control a woman... This fourth collaboration between Theatre Babel and Liz Lochhead is an electrifying and ribald adaptation of Moliere’s best plays. Liz Lochhead already translated and adapted Molière’s Tartuffe in 1985 into Scots and based her play Misery Guts in 2002 on Molière’s The Misanthrope. Previews: Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 April, 7.3pm.
