French Guided Tour - Uncovering the Stories of Women Who Shaped the City

Date: 17 May 2025, 10:00am - 12:00pm GMT+1 UK

Street names, statues, monuments—like in many major cities, Glasgow's urban space offers little room for female representation. A walk-through George Square is enough to reveal this disparity: out of twelve statues, only one is of a woman! This guided walk aims to shine a light on the stories of Glaswegian women—entrepreneurs, artists, politicians, and even those who remain anonymous—who have played a vital role in shaping our city's history. Our journey will begin on Buchanan Street, we will explore, among others, the legacy of the inventor of the tearoom, an 'army leader' and even a famous criminal case.
