We are delighted to host the special exhibition ‘Ghosts of Glasgow’ between 2nd May and end of June, in partnership with the Glasgow School of Art and the École Estienne based in Paris.
Earlier this year a group of 28 students from École Estienne in Paris came to visit Glasgow in search of the city’s fantômes, the traces of the city’s history that lingered in the present. How the age of trams, top hats and flat caps still had resonance in the current times of Ubers, baseball caps and… flat caps. Accompanied by Communication Design students from Glasgow School of Art, the Estienne students explored Screen Scotland’s archives and trod the streets on the trail of these spectres. Returning to Paris their investigations were compiled into a set of eight ‘zines, each covering a different aspect of Glasgow’s past. The Glasgow art students have made wraparound Riso-printed covers for these Fantômes De Glasgow ‘zines and the results will be exhibited at the Alliance Francaise during May and June and available free for one night only at the show opening on Thursday May 2nd.
