Reader in Modern European History at the University of Glasgow, Mike Rapport specialises in the French Revolution, the 1848 Revolutions in Europe and 19th-century France. He is currently writing a book on Paris in the Belle Époque as experienced through its buildings and public spaces, as well as a concise history of Europe. His other books include Rebel Cities: Paris, London and New York in the Age of Revolution (2017), 1848: Year of Revolution (2008) and The Napoleonic Wars: A Very Short Introduction (2013). He lives in Stirling with his family, including an adventurous retriever and a daredevil cat.
